[ARCHIVED] Gone Fishing: Midland Ponds Freshly Stocked

Two ponds located at City of Midland parks have been freshly stocked with fish.

The ponds, located at CJ Kelly Park, 5500 League Drive, and Beal Park, 5200 W. Wall were tested for water quality on November 1, 2018 by Texas Parks and Wildlife.  Testing revealed no algae issues, and they gave the green light to stock the fishing holes with perch and catfish. In cooler months, the ponds will be stocked with trout.

Officials advise that fishing is best a few weeks after the fish have been stocked. This gives them time to become acclimated to their new surroundings. All state fishing laws apply at these two ponds and both ponds are monitored by state game wardens. For more information on the State of Texas fishing laws, visit the TPWD website: www.tpwd.state.tx.us.
