The Midland Police Department and Midland Crime Stoppers are searching for the public's help in identifying the suspect in a carjacking and assault case.
A female victim was driving in the area of Carver Street between Estes and Cuthbert on the evening of Feb. 8 when a male suspect forced himself into her vehicle. The suspect demanded the victim take him to the east side of town to a specific location and upon reaching that location, changed his mind and made the victim take him to a secluded location east of town in the county. The suspect violently assaulted the victim upon arrival and forced her out of the car, continuing to assault her. The suspect then took control of the vehicle as the victim pleaded for him to release her infant son, who was still in the vehicle. She was able to remove the infant from the car, and the suspect left the victims stranded. Another individual who drove by was able to witness the stolen vehicle leaving the scene and get emergency help for the victims.
The suspect is described as a short, Hispanic male with black hair and a thin black mustache. He was wearing a gray or white shirt and blue jeans on the day of the assault.
If you have information on this suspect please call Midland Crime Stoppers at 432-694-TIPS(8477).
