[ARCHIVED] City Receives Donation from XTO

The City of Midland has received a generous donation of $500,000 from XTO Energy, an ExxonMobil subsidiary. The money will go toward construction of a splash pad at Dennis the Menace Park.

“XTO was most attracted to this opportunity because of the historical significance of the park as well as the opportunity to support the City in weaving inclusive play into the fabric of the community,” stated Enrique Garcia, XTO Operations Manager.

“This donation has turned the dream of a splash pad at Dennis the Menace into a reality,” said Laurie Williams, Assistant Community Services Director. “Dennis the Menace Park is a Midland landmark. XTO’s support for revitalizing this treasured space shows their outstanding commitment to this community,” added Mayor Jerry Morales.

Dennis the Menace was first constructed in the 1950s. Renovations are underway to modernize and enhance the park. The park is expected to be re-opened Spring 2019, with the splash pad to be operational Summer 2019.
