City of Midland Traffic Alert

[ARCHIVED] City wide traffic alerts and lane closures

Lamesa Road Pavement Reconstruction:

The Contractor working for the City of Midland is scheduled to continue raising water valves and manholes along Lamesa Road between Walnut Lane and Dormard Avenue. There will be daytime single lane and center lane closures at the locations of the water valves and manholes that they are working on.

If possible, motorists are advised to avoid this work zone.

COMPASS: City-Wide Paving:

The Contractor working for the City of Midland is working on sidewalk, curb and gutter, and pavement on Fort Worth Street. Fort Worth Street will be closed to thru traffic between Gist Avenue and Hicks Avenue.

The Contractor working for the City of Midland will be working to construct sidewalks on Colorado Street between Stokes Avenue and Gist Avenue. There will be minimal traffic interruptions when concrete is placed.

The Contractor working for the City of Midland will also be working on Stokes Avenue between Belmont Street and Main Street to adjust water valves. There will be partial lane closures on Stokes between Belmont Street and Main Street, and on Belmont Street between Stokes Avenue and Gist Avenue while the contractor is working.

If possible, motorists are advised to avoid this work zone.

Interstate 20 & Rankin Highway:

Transportation crews will be working on the traffic signal at I-20 and Rankin Highway on the
morning of Saturday, August 2nd. The traffic signal may be out of service at times throughout the morning. Drivers should exercise caution in the area and are reminded that a flashing red signal has the same meaning as a stop sign.

Mill & Overlay Project:

Beginning Monday August 4, 2014, the contractor working for the City of Midland will begin the Fiscal Year 2014 Mill/Overlay project at Illinois Avenue between Midland Drive and Midkiff Road. During the first phase of the project, the east bound lanes of Illinois Avenue between Midland Drive and Midkiff Road will be closed. Two-way traffic at Illinois Avenue will be maintained; however, in the west bound lanes. Residential and collector streets adjacent to Illinois Avenue will be closed for short periods of time during construction. All properties adjacent to the work zone will remain accessible.

If possible, motorists are advised to avoid this work zone.
