The Midland City Council will hold a public hearing to allow the public to participate in the development of the City's 2014-2015 Community Development Program at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22.

During the meeting, staff will discuss past usage of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, community development and housing needs, and proposed uses of 2014-2015 CDBG funds.

The City of Midland will receive a grant of $730,276 for 2014-2015 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and expects to receive $108,000 in program income. A minimum of 70 percent of CDBG funds must be allocated to projects that benefit low- and moderate-income individuals.

Examples of activities eligible for CDBG funding are: housing rehabilitation, sidewalk and street improvement, park improvements, code enforcement, lot clearance, economic development and public services. A significate portion of funds are expected to be allocated to the selected target area program.
