The Midland Police Department is hoping to encourage potential employees to follow their passion in a new recruiting video.
The video, which is entitled “Fulfill Your Purpose,” launches a new MPD recruiting initiative targeting individuals who are currently working in fields that may have been overlooked by police departments in the past.
“Historically, we’ve recruited from the military and criminal justice programs,” said Recruiting Sgt. Alfredo Grimaldo. “We’re starting to broaden our efforts to attract individuals looking for more adventure in their lives through a stable job that’s service-oriented.”
Innovative technology, advanced training opportunities and strong community relations are showcased in the video, which aims to inform future recruits of the widely diverse divisions within the department.
MPD partnered with video production company Studio 84 to create a three-minute video and a 30-second spot that will be shared through social media and at events and functions around Midland. The videos are available on the City of Midland’s YouTube channel and website.
“Some people have never even heard of Midland, so it’s helpful to be able to show future applicants that we are a diverse, growing city with lots of opportunity,” Grimaldo said. “Video has become a powerful recruiting tool because our applicants can picture themselves fitting in to our community and the Midland Police Department.”
The next test date to become a police officer with MPD is Saturday, June 7. For more information about the Midland Police Department, visit www.midlandtexas.gov/police.
