Folk music will fill Centennial Plaza this noon during a free concert presented by City of Midland Parks and Recreation Division this Friday.
The E-Flat Porch Band will present an educational and entertaining introduction to folk music on Friday, July11 over the lunch hour. Midlanders are invited to attend the free concert and enjoy the E-Flatters’ homage to many Texas musicians who have had an important role in influencing music trends everywhere.
A “typical” set by the band includes a mixture of traditional country blues tunes including songs by Texas blues artists Mance Lipscomb and Lightnin’ Hopkins, Woody Guthrie tunes such as “Do Re Mi,” folk tunes, and classic jazz and swing tunes. The musicians are also songwriters and will perform their own tunes as well.
The free concert is possible through a grant from and the Midland County Library.
