A Midland man was declared deceased on scene following an accident on Loop 250 Wednesday evening.
Midland Police and Fire Departments were called to the accident at approximately 5:52 p.m. in the 3400 block of West Loop 250, where they found 38-year-old Donny Roberts of Midland deceased on scene.
The investigation into the accident revealed that Roberts had been driving a 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup eastbound on Loop 250 when witnesses saw his vehicle veer into the center median and into the westbound lanes, striking a westbound 2013 Toyota Sequoia head on. Upon impact, the pickup was struck by a 2012 Cadillac Escalade, which had been traveling westbound behind the Toyota Sequoia.
The 43-year-old female driver of the Toyota Sequoia was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. An 8-year-old passenger in the vehicle was transported in critical condition and a 3-year-old passenger was transported with minor injuries. The driver of the Cadillac Escalade refused treatment at the scene.
It is unknown at this time why Roberts' vehicle veered across the median; an autopsy will be conducted and the investigation continues. Next of kin has been notified.
