[ARCHIVED] City alerts public of door-to-door solicitors impersonating employees

The City of Midland would like to alert residents about two men who are posing as City employees and attempting to enter homes under the pretense of checking water quality.

Reports of two Hispanic males, one in his 20s and the other in his 40s, impersonating City employees have recently surfaced from the public. The two males are believed to be intending to sell a product and do not have a permit through the Midland Police Department to solicit door-to-door. They were most recently said to be wearing black shirts with nametags that appeared to designate them as City employees.

City of Midland employees will only come inside a resident’s home when asked or in an emergency or public safety situation. If you see any suspicious activity, you are asked to call the Midland Police Department at 432-685-7108.

No accounts of this suspicious activity included the use of force or any other illegal actions, but City officials continue to stress the importance of never letting someone into your home who you have not asked to be there.
