A man was taken into custody after he confronted a disc golf player in his alley with a pistol on Tuesday morning.
Buddy Myers, 43, of Midland, was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after firing a shot at a 19-year-old who had thrown a disc golf into Myers' backyard.
The Midland Police Department responded to the scene of the disturbance at approximately 10:01 a.m. in the 2900 block of North I Street, where they discovered that Myers had barricaded himself inside following the incident. There was an elderly female in the residence with Myers, but both exited the house with no incident within an hour of the first call police received.
The investigation revealed that the 19-year-old male playing disc golf had inadvertently thrown a disc into Myers' backyard while playing at Windlands Park. He attempted to contact Myers at the front door but Myers did not answer. When the disc golf player peered over the back fence, Myers exited his house and backyard and shot a pistol in the direction of the player in his back alley.
No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
