[ARCHIVED] Public invited to attend meeting for Fairgrounds Road project

The City of Midland will hold a public meeting to discuss the proposed widening of Fairgrounds Road between Pecan Avenue to Loop 250 from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23 in the Lee Freshman High School library (1400 E. Oak Ave.).

Engineers will be available to answer questions from the public regarding the project during an open house starting at 6 p.m. with a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m.

The proposed project is intended to address recent increases in traffic by adding extra driving lanes, including turning lanes, along Fairgrounds Road between Pecan Avenue and Loop 250. The additional capacity of the proposed design will better serve diverse traffic, including vehicles containing hazardous materials, and will be consistent with the City of Midland’s Master Thoroughfare Plan.

Maps and drawings regarding the project will be displayed at the public meeting and will also be available for viewing beginning Sept. 18 at the City of Midland’s engineering office (300 N. Loraine). Written comments on the project can be submitted through 5 p.m. on Oct. 7 to Matt Carr, PE, City of Midland, P.O. Box 1152, Midland, TX 79702. Anyone interested in attending the public meeting who has special communication needs or requires physical accommodations is encouraged to call 432-685-7287 at least three days before the meeting.
