The City of Midland’s Community Development Office began the new fiscal year on Oct. 1 with several changes to housing programs that are made possible by Community Development Block Grant funds.
A $100,000 budget was established for the homebuyer assistance program this year, and the maximum amount of assistance available to low income, first-time home buyers was increased to $15,000. The minor repair program has a $69,500 budget with additional funds carried over from previous years. The next minor repair project will be the 1,000th since the program was established in 1991. Current low-income homeowners with roofing, major plumbing or heating/air conditioning needs could qualify for this program.
The City is also able to assist a low-income homeowner in an uninhabitable housing situation through the reconstruction loan program.
Please contact the City’s Community Development Office at 432-685-7472 to learn more about these programs.
