[ARCHIVED] Midland Police Department warns residents of IRS phone scam

The Midland Police Department is warning residents about a phone scam that is making the rounds in Midland.

The caller leaves a message claiming to be an employee of the Internal Revenue Service and tells potential victims that they owe money to the government. The caller gives victims a Washington, D.C. area phone number to call and threatens a lawsuit if they don’t settle the “debt.” The scam uses different phone numbers originating from the Northeast.

If you think you may have been a victim, you can call MPD at 432-685-7108.
