The Midland City Council will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 2 regarding a project proposed for downtown.
The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Midland Center (105 N. Main St.) and is open to the public. Council will hear specifics of a proposed development called the “Hotel Santa Rita No. 1,” which developers wish to build on City-owned property where the former Midland County Courthouse property is located.
No action will be taken at the meeting.
The property has been vacant for several years and was purchased by the City of Midland from Midland County in March 2013. A request for qualifications was authorized in September for contractors to oversee an environmental assessment, asbestos removal and demolition for the building, along with other City-owned properties downtown.
