A pedestrian was declared deceased Tuesday morning after he was struck by a vehicle in Midland.
Midland Police and Fire Department units responded to the accident at approximately 6:59 a.m. In the 2400 block of South Rankin Highway, where they found 59-year-old Thomas Walsh, of Papallion, Neb., lying in the roadway. Walsh was pronounced deceased on scene.
An investigation into the accident showed that Walsh was walking westbound on Rankin Highway when he was struck by a silver Chevy pickup that was traveling southbound. Walsh was not walking in a crosswalk and failed to yield to the vehicle.
Next of kin has been notified and the investigation continues.
