[ARCHIVED] District 4 Councilman, City staff to host community meeting

Several City of Midland departments will be available to answer questions from District 4 residents at a community meeting with Council Member J.Ross Lacy from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15 at the Alamo Junior High School cafeteria (3800 W Storey Ave.).

A formal presentation will be provided from 6-7 p.m. by the Midland Police Department, Solid Waste Department and Code Administration Division in addition to a half-hour open house at the beginning and end of the evening for citizens to speak directly with City staff and representatives.

This meeting is part of an ongoing series across City Council districts to encourage citizens to take part in keeping Midland clean and safe as well as highlight important initiatives such as Nextdoor.com, a social media network that allows neighbors to interact and keep an eye on crime in their neighborhoods.

Police will be on hand to discuss recent crime trends in each neighborhood, and representatives from the Solid Waste Department will have information on large item pickups, including what items should be placed in dumpsters. Code Administration personnel will also provide information on weedy lots, dilapidated structures, and ways that citizens can show pride in their neighborhoods.
