It’s not too late to get a flu shot, and Midland Health & Senior Services and the National Diabetes Education Program are teaming up to bring special awareness of the risk of flu-related complications to those with diabetes.
Individuals with diabetes are at high risk for serious flu complications, and the best way to prevent the flu continues to be annual vaccinations. If citizens with diabetes do develop flu symptoms, they should call their health care provider immediately since antiviral medicines are most effective during the first 48 hours of contracting the flu virus.
Midland Health & Senior Services currently has plenty of flu vaccines for everyone at its location of 3303 W. Illinois, Space 22. Hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m.-Noon on Friday. Private insurance is accepted, as well as Medicaid and Medicare, and no appointment is necessary.
