A Midland County resident who was declared deceased after she was found in a burning travel trailer Monday has been identified.
Midland Fire Department responded to reports of a structure fire at approximately 4:58 p.m. in the 9700 block of South Country Road 1136, where initially responding units found a "fifth wheel" travel trailer fully involved upon arrival. A mobile home found at the same address was in close proximity to the travel trailer and suffered external fire damage.
Firefighters located 58-year-old Sherrie Lynn Morris in the living room area of the trailer, where several oxygen bottles had ruptured and melted from the flames. Morris was pronounced deceased on scene.
Fire investigators believe the flames began in the living room area where Morris was found. The cause of the fire will remain unknown due to the condition of the trailer, but contributing factors found during the investigation were clutter, which provided additional fuel for the flames, and oxygen bottles, which intensified the fire.
Next of kin has been notified.
