[ARCHIVED] Engineers to conduct public hearing on Fairgrounds Road Improvement Project

The City of Midland will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, March 17 to present proposed improvements to Fairgrounds Road from Pecan Avenue to Loop 250 and receive public comment on the project.

Displays will be available for view starting at 6 p.m. and a formal hearing will commence at 7 p.m. in the library of Lee Freshman High School (1400 E. Oak Ave.).

The proposed project would widen Fairgrounds Road from two lanes to five lanes for a distance of approximately 1.3 miles, from Pecan Avenue to Loop 250. The result would be a continuous five-lane roadway from Business Interstate 20 to Loop 250. The project is also proposed to include sidewalks on both sides of Fairgrounds Road between Pecan and Wadley Avenue, in addition to new traffic signals, cross walks, and pedestrian ramps at the Fairgrounds Road and Wadley intersection. It will provide an off-street hike and bike path on the west side of, and parallel to, Fairgrounds Road north of Wadley Avenue.

Individuals interested in attending the public meeting who have special communication needs or require physical accommodations are encouraged to contact Shellie Mitchell at 432-685-7287 at least three working days prior to the public meeting. General questions or concerns regarding the proposed project can be directed to City Engineer Matt Carr at 432-685-7415.
