[ARCHIVED] One man killed, another injured in overnight homicide

The Midland Police Department is investigating a stabbing that killed one man and left another man injured early Thursday morning.

Midland police responded to the incident at 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 30 in the 400 block of South Webster Street. A caller advised MPD dispatchers that two males were being transported to Midland Memorial Hospital by private vehicle with stab wounds. An investigation into the incident revealed the stabbing had occurred in the 2300 block of South Camp Drive.

Qualen Blake, 18, suffered a stab wound to the back and was pronounced deceased at the hospital shortly after arrival. Tevionn Coffield, 18, sustained two stab wounds to the chest and is currently listed in stable condition.

Blake’s body has been sent to Tarrant County for an autopsy. Next of kin has been notified and the investigation continues.
