[ARCHIVED] UPDATED: Suspect arrested in connection to drive-by shooting on South Lee Street

A Midland man has been arrested in connection to a drive-by shooting that left another man dead.

Gage Bolerjack, 22, was taken into custody without incident by U.S. Marshals in Martin County following a traffic stop Thursday evening. Bolerjack is facing a charge for murder in the death of 20-year-old Kaleb Barton.

The investigation is ongoing.

Original release:

A 20-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the hospital after he was shot by an unknown suspect Saturday morning.

Midland Police Department officers responded to Midland Memorial Hospital at approximately 4:33 a.m. in reference to gunshot victim Kaleb Barton, 20, who had been transported by private vehicle and was pronounced deceased after arrival.

An investigation determined that the incident occurred at an eating establishment in the 200 block of South Lee Street. Witnesses said Barton was outside of the business with acquaintances when two Hispanic males in a small light blue/silver car, possibly a Honda, drove by and fired one round into the group, striking Barton in the lower torso.

Next of kin has been notified and Barton's body will be transported to Tarrant County for an autopsy. The investigation into the case continues.
