[ARCHIVED] Coats for Kids

Firefighters work on the front lines and are witnesses to levels of poverty in their own communities. That’s why the Professional Firefighters Association of Midland is working to ensure that local kids stay warm this winter during its annual campaign called Firefighters Coats for Kids.

On- and off-duty firefighters will hand out coats to 200 students at Crockett Elementary (401 E. Parker Ave.) at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 13. A fire engine is expected to be on scene, as well.

This local program targets less fortunate children living in Midland, providing them with brand new winter coats that will help them brave the cold and attend school regularly throughout the winter months.

Although PFAM is already dedicated to the purchase of 200 coats from its benevolence fund, a fundraising website has been set up to allow anyone to join in this effort. If you would like to donate on behalf of this campaign, you can visit http://www.operationwarm.org/midland or contact PFAM President Eric Stewart at estewart@iafflocal4405.org.
