One person is dead following a one-vehicle accident on Sunday night on Highway 191 in Midland.
Jennifer Handte, 17, of Midland, was declared deceased on the scene, located around 2 miles west of Loop 250, after Midland Police and Fire Departments responded to the accident at approximately 6:25 p.m.
Handte was a passenger in a 2008 blue Nissan Titan that rolled into the center median of Highway 191 after the driver lost control heading eastbound in the highway's main lanes. She was ejected from the vehicle. The driver and only other occupant were transported to Midland Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. Their conditions are unknown at this time. All three occupants in the vehicle were 17 years old.
The investigation into the accident continues. Road conditions are believed to be a contributing factor.
A police officer's vehicle was struck while officers worked the accident. The driver of that vehicle received citations for failure to control speed, lack of driver's license and insurance, and for having an unrestrained child in the vehicle.
