City of Midland Traffic Alert

[ARCHIVED] Traffic alerts and lane closures

Drainage Improvements:

The city is continuing drainage improvements in the north alley of the 5000 block of Rainbow Circle. The alley’s east end will be closed. Residents will be able to access their properties from the west end of the alley.

The city is making drainage improvements at 1308 Terra Court. During the project, Terra Court will be closed at that location.

Street Repairs:

The city is making repairs to S. Midland Drive between Comanche Dr. and Seminole Dr. During the project, lane closures will be used from Anetta Dr. to Seminole Dr. North and south bound traffic will be maintained throughout the project.

COMPASS Project:

The contractor will begin to mobilize to E. Kentucky from South Benton Street to South Stonewall Street. The contractor will begin to setup his traffic control devices and construction staking during the first week of construction.

Beal Parkway Paving Project:

The Contractor will continue to excavate and rough grading the existing material within the project limits. Currently, the Contractor is working within the newly proposed alignment of Beal Parkway from Audie Court to Blue Haven and Leisure Drive to Thomason Drive.

Briarwood Avenue Paving Project:

The contractor will continue installing storm drain infrastructure and sub-base material along Briarwood Avenue. As the contractor completes these tasks, equipment and material deliveries will be more frequent in and out of the designated work zone. The traveling public is warned to be cautious while traveling on Briarwood Avenue between Avalon Road and Holiday Hill Road. For safety, the speed limit through the construction zone has been reduced to 35mph due to the travel lanes being narrowed.

Fairgrounds Road Widening Project:

The contractor working for TxDOT on the Fairgrounds Road Widening Project has opened Fairgrounds Road to two-way traffic from Wadley Avenue to Loop 250. Traffic will be constrained to one-way operations from Pecan Avenue to Wadley Avenue.

Utility Extension Program:

The contractor will also be performing work in the area of Fairgrounds Road from the intersection with Pine Avenue and extending north to the intersection with Cynthia Avenue. During construction, there may be temporary lane closures Pine Avenue and Cynthia Avenue.

The contractor will be performing work in the area of the east-bound Loop 250 Frontage Road located east of the frontage road intersection with the Jal Draw crossing and just west of the frontage road intersection with Henry Koontz Boulevard. The location is also just east of the Loop 250 exit ramp for S. Midland Drive. During construction there may be temporary lane closures along the east-bound Loop 250 Frontage Road as well as construction traffic to, from, and around the construction area. The traveling public is warned to be cautious while traveling on east-bound Loop 250 Frontage Road between Tremont Avenue and S. Midland Drive.
