[ARCHIVED] Traffic alerts and lane closures

Drainage Improvements on Desta Drive:

City crews will start making drainage improvements at the intersection of North A Street and Desta Drive. During the first phase of the project, Desta Drive will be closed at North A Street. Access to all businesses will be maintained throughout the project.

Contractors will be making several drainage improvements on Scharbauer Drive (eastbound and westbound) between Big Spring Street and A Street. Lane closures and detours will be used throughout the project.

Fiscal Year 2016 Mastic Seal Project:

Fiscal Year 2016 Mastic Seal Project will begin the week of September 29, 2016 at various locations of southwest Midland. During the project, residential and minor collector streets being treated will be temporarily closed while the surface cures. Residents in this area are requested to be careful that runoff from water sprinklers does not run into the streets to be treated. Curbside parking will also be prohibited on the streets to be treated. Please observe all traffic controls, parking restrictions, and flagmen; and exercise caution while in the vicinity of all construction activities.

COMPASS Project on Terrell Street:

The contractor is currently working on Terrell Street from Gist Avenue to Longview Avenue. During construction, Terrell Street will be closed to thru traffic. The Travis Elementary driveway entrance will remain open during construction. Access to drive will be from the south.

Beal Parkway Paving Project:

The contractor is working within the newly proposed alignment of Beal Parkway from Audie Court to Blue Haven and Leisure Drive to Thomason Drive. An increase in construction traffic may cause delays on Leisure Drive and Graceland.

Briarwood Avenue Paving Project:

The contractor is currently working along Briarwood Avenue from Avalon Drive to Holiday Hill Road. The contractor moved traffic onto the new pavement. Temporary driveways are available to access affected businesses on the north side of Briarwood Avenue.

Fairgrounds Road Widening Project:

The contractor working for TxDOT on the Fairgrounds Road Widening Project has opened Fairgrounds Road to two-way traffic from Wadley Avenue to Loop 250. Traffic will be constrained to one-way operations from Pecan Avenue to Wadley Avenue.

Utility Extension Program:

The contractor will perform construction along the eastbound Loop 250 frontage road between Tremont Avenue and Henry Koontz Boulevard. There may be temporary lane, road, and intersection closures during construction.
