Midlanders are invited to bring their best chili recipe to a city-wide cook-off on Nov. 10 that is attended by hundreds of people each year.
Teams and individuals may now register for the Midland Municipal Employee Scholarship Fund's 9th Annual Chili Cook-Off from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall (2104 W. Louisiana).
All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the non-profit scholarship fund, which has awarded college scholarships to 273 dependents of City of Midland employees since its inception in 1995.
Entry fee is $20 per team, and the team with the Best Overall Chili will be awarded a cash prize of $150. Teams and individuals from outside the City of Midland are welcome to register. Registration forms can be downloaded online at www.midlandtexas.gov/chilicookoff.
Attendees can taste test all of the chili and by purchasing a ticket for $5 in advance from the first floor receptionist at City Hall (300 N. Loraine) or $7 at the door. The entrance fee includes chili, crackers and a drink, and baked goods will be available for purchase. Everyone who purchases a Chili Cook-Off ticket will be eligible to win door prizes to be given away at the event.
