The City of Midland Parks and Recreation has released its schedule of events for this weekend's annual Community Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration in downtown Midland.
Santa, food trucks, and local choirs will be in attendance at the free event in Centennial Plaza on Saturday, Dec. 5. The tree lighting celebration will begin at 5:40 p.m. with a performance by the Midday Youth Choir from Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, followed by the Midland High Choir and the Community Worship Center Choir. The tree lighting countdown will begin at approximately 6:10 p.m. Several door prizes will be given away to attendees, including a night at the Doubletree Hotel with dinner.
The tree lighting will be followed by the City of Midland's annual lighted Christmas Parade the following week on Saturday, Dec. 12 starting at 6:30 p.m. in downtown Midland.
