[ARCHIVED] Fire officials investigating possible arson case

The Midland Fire Department is looking for more information on a fire that investigators believe may have been intentionally set at the Annex Apartments on Friday morning.

A total of 16 fire units responded to the call at approximately 9:17 a.m. to the apartments in the 5100 block of North A Street and found heavy smoke and moderate flames around the front door of a ground level apartment unit. First responders quickly contained the fire, keeping it from spreading to the second floor of the building.

The building was unoccupied and due to be remodeled following a previous, unrelated fire in the same apartment unit. No utilities were present at the time of the fire and investigators are looking at this case as possible arson.

Anyone knowing information regarding this fire is asked to contact the Midland Fire Marshal's Office at 432-685-7333. A cash reward is available for information resulting in an arrest.
