[ARCHIVED] MPD officer involved in internal investigation resigns

The Midland Police Department has received the resignation of an officer who was arrested last week by Odessa police.

Rudy Robles, 23, resigned Tuesday afternoon during the early stages of an internal investigation by the Midland Police Department into the incident that led to his arrest. He was arrested on a misdemeanor assault charge by the Odessa Police Department on Monday, April 11 following a disturbance at his apartment in Odessa with his live-in girlfriend. The probable cause affidavit for Robles’ arrest stated that he had been drinking alcoholic beverages and had a verbal altercation with his girlfriend, who “stated that Robles grabbed her by the right arm and right wrist and began to pull her,” causing a small scratch on her right wrist and a scratch on her right underarm where he allegedly grabbed her.

Robles had been employed by the Midland Police Department for three years at the time of his resignation. The criminal case regarding Robles’ assault charge remains in Odessa Municipal Court’s jurisdiction.
