The Midland Police Department is now taking applications for this year’s Kids Academy.
The academy will take place daily from 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on June 20-24 at the MLK Community Center on 2300 Butternut Ln. Students in the academy will learn about the various divisions of the Midland Police Department and justice system, as well as life skills such as dealing with bullying and exercise.
Attendance in the academy is free for children ages 8-12. New applicants will be considered on a first come, first served basis for the 30 available spots, and those who have been through the academy may be considered if there are open spots remaining.
Applications can be downloaded at www.midlandtexas.gov/KidsAcademy and returned to the police department on 601 N. Loraine, faxed to 432-685-7585, or emailed to Community Relations Officer Larry Woodruff at lwoodruff@midlandtexas.gov. Applications can also be picked up at the police department. The application must include the signature of a parent or guardian. The deadline to apply is June 13.
