Midland Health & Senior Services would like to remind citizens that it’s not too late to receive your flu shot to stop the spread of influenza.
Influenza spreads readily from person to person in schools, workplace and homes. Everyone over 6 months of age should get the annual flu vaccine to prevent sickness, unnecessary healthcare visits, hospitalizations, and deaths from influenza.
The best way to avoid H1N1 is to get vaccinated. Flu vaccine provides protection against the three strains of influenza: the H1N1 strain that caused the illness in 2009 and later seasons, and two other flu viruses that caused illness last season. Vaccines for 2013-2014 contain the H1N1 strain that caused the illness in 2009 and later seasons, and some other flu viruses, depending on the formulation.
Midland Health & Senior Services is offering flu shots to children 3 years of age and older as well as adults. Medicaid and Medicare will be accepted as payment. The price range will be from $20 up to $35. No appointment is necessary.
