[ARCHIVED] Motorcyclist dies after single-unit crash in Midland

A motorcyclist was declared deceased Wednesday after an accident that took place last weekend in Midland.

Officers responded to the accident at approximately 7:52 p.m. on Saturday, July 9 in the 200 block of Tradewinds Boulevard, and found 24-year-old Justin Delamater, of Princeton, lying next to the road with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased just after midnight on July 13.

The investigation into the accident revealed that Delamater had been driving northbound on Tradewinds Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he approached a curve in the road. Delamater did not make the turn and struck a curb, striking and dislodging a fire hydrant before he and the motorcycle came to a rest north of the intersection at Champions Drive in an open field.

Delamater was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Next of kin have been notified.
