The City of Midland will hold a swearing-in ceremony for newly elected council members at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 13 at the Midland Center (105 N. Main St.).
Taking the oath of office:
Jerry Morales - Mayor
Sharla Hotchkiss - District 3
J.Ross Lacy - District 4
The City will also honor three outgoing council members. Mayor Wes Perry first began serving as an at-large council member in 2002 and became mayor in 2008. Councilmen John James for District 3 and Michael Trost for District 4 both began their six-year tenures in 2008.
At-large Councilman Jerry Morales had recently began his second full term as an at-large city council member in 2013, having filled Bill Dingus' unexpired term in August 2008.
Morales' vacant at-large seat will be filled by a special election that is expected to take place in May 2014.
