A Gardendale man was declared deceased after his pickup struck an overpass pillar and rolled several times Wednesday afternoon.
Vaughn Dean Robinson, 66, was found to be dead on scene following the single-vehicle accident.
Midland Police and Fire Departments responded to the accident at approximately 12:04 p.m. Wednesday in the 2300 block of West Interstate 20. The investigation revealed that Robinson's Chevy 3500 pickup truck was traveling westbound on the north service road of Interstate 20 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway. The pickup struck a pillar under the Garfield Road overpass and rolled several times. Robinson, who was the only occupant in the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Next of kin have been notified and the investigation into the accident continues.
