Two people remain in the hospital and one person was arrested following a three-vehicle accident over the weekend.
Jesus Rios, 24, of Odessa was arrested and charged with intoxication assault causing serious bodily injury after his Dodge pickup struck a Plymouth Neon carrying three passengers before midnight on Friday.
Midland Police and Fire Departments responded to the accident at approximately 11:28 p.m. Friday in the 2200 block of North Fairgrounds Road. The investigation revealed that Rios' Dodge pickup struck the Plymouth Neon from behind at a high rate of speed while both vehicles were traveling southbound on Fairgrounds Road. The impact of the crash pushed Neon into oncoming traffic, and it struck a northbound Hyundai Sonata carrying two passengers. The three female occupants of the Neon were transported to the hospital; one was treated and released, another remains in the hospital in critical condition and the third remains in the hospital in stable condition. Rios and the occupants in the Hyundai Sonata were not injured.
