The Midland Police Department has a Midland man in custody who is believed to be the suspect in two separate BB&T Bank robberies.
Justin Slatton, 54, is on hold pending federal robbery charges in connection with robberies that occurred on Dec. 30 at the BB&T Bank located at 1100 Andrews Highway and on Jan. 6 at the BB&T Bank located at 4715 N. Midland Drive.
In both instances, witnesses told MPD officers that a man walked up to the counter and demanded money. He then fled the scenes on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
A tip received through Midland Crime Stoppers led MPD to respond on Monday evening to the 3000 block of W. Ohio Ave., where a maroon Nissan Titan that was believed to be involved in the cases was found. Slatton was located near the residence and arrested for two outstanding warrants, possession of a controlled substance and failure to ID. Slatton was charged with the robberies of the two BB&T Banks after being interviewed by detectives. Slatton was booked into the Midland County Jail.
