One man was declared deceased following a one-vehicle accident early Thursday morning in Midland.
Midland Police and Fire Departments responded to the accident at approximately 2:38 a.m. Thursday in the 4300 block of West Loop 250, near Midland Drive. Police arrived to find that the two male occupants of a 2010 silver BMW sedan had been ejected from the vehicle upon impact. Both were transported to the hospital, one with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and the other with critical injuries. The critically injured man was declared deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The investigation into the accident revealed that the sedan was headed westbound on Loop 250 when it moved to the right and struck a guardrail on the Midland Drive overpass, causing the vehicle to spin before coming to a rest.
It appeared that the driver of the vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt and the passenger was at the time of the crash, but the seatbelt was severed as a result of the crash. It is unclear who was in the driver's seat of the vehicle at the time of the crash due to both subjects having been ejected from the vehicle.
The investigation into the accident continues and next of kin have not been notified.
