The City of Midland has collected this month's sales tax revenue from the State Comptroller's Office.
The total amount of revenue received was $2,700,652. This month's figure reflects a 11.6 percent increase, or a $280,621 increase, from April 2016.
The year-to-date total sales tax revenue for fiscal year 2016-2017 is down 6.2 percent, or a $1,351,557 decrease, from last year's totals at this time. Fiscal year-to-date actual sales tax revenue is $20,448,578.
Sales tax revenue is generated by sales tax income from two months prior to collection; April collection is based on February sales.
