One person was declared deceased on scene following an accident Monday morning on Garden City Highway in Midland.
Midland Police and Fire Departments responded to the accident at approximately 9:30 a.m. and found the driver of a brown Chevrolet Silverado pickup deceased as the result of an accident with an 18-wheeler pulling a flat bed trailer. The two vehicles were both traveling westbound when the 18-wheeler pulled into the outside lane to make a right turn into a business located in the 1800 block of Garden City Highway. As the truck began to turn, the pickup, which was traveling in the inside lane, struck the trailer. A telephone pole that was being hauled on the back of the trailer fell and struck the driver of the pickup. He was found deceased on scene by first responders.
Traffic was reduced to one lane eastbound, and all westbound lanes were closed as a result of the accident.
Next of kin has not been notified and the investigation into the accident continues.
