The City of Midland Engineering Services Department has the following projects under construction. Road closures and traffic alerts for each project are listed below:
Lamesa Road Pedestrian Access Improvement
The Contractor working for the City of Midland is installing sidewalks along Lamesa Road south of Scharbauer Drive. Lane closures will be used along Lamesa Road between Jax Avenue and Hamby Avenue. All properties adjacent to the work zone will remain accessible.
COMPASS: City-Wide Paving:
The Contractor working for the City of Midland is preparing Stokes Avenue (Rankin Highway to Main Street) and Belmont Street (Gist Avenue to Wolcott Avenue) for asphalt paving. Stokes Avenue is closed to thru traffic between Rankin Highway and South Main Street. Belmont Street and Colorado Street are closed between Gist Avenue and Wolcott Avenue.
Market Street Water and Wastewater Extension
The Contractor working for the City of Midland will begin construction on utility extensions beginning the week of Jan. 27. Construction will limit the traffic in the Market Street right-of-way south of Basin Street. All properties adjacent to the work zone will remain accessible.
Midkiff Road Utility Cut Repair
The Contractor working for the City of Midland will continue repairing the utility cut on Midkiff Road south of Wadley Avenue. The lanes will be closed at a time during repairs. All properties adjacent to the work zone will remain accessible.
Veterans Airpark Lane Curb & Gutter and Pavement Repairs
The City of Midland’s Transportation Division will continue repairing damaged curb and gutter and pavement at the 400 block of Veterans Airpark Lane. During the project, the outside east bound lane at the 400 block of Veterans Airpark Lane will be closed. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times, and all properties adjacent to the work zone will remain accessible.
Texas Avenue and Main Street Concrete Repairs
The City of Midland’s Transportation Division has completed the replacement of concrete previously removed for the installation of a new sanitary sewer manhole at the Texas Avenue and Main Street intersection. Lane closures at the 100 block of West Texas Avenue, the 100 block of East Texas Avenue, and the 200 block of North Main Street will remain in place until Monday, Jan. 27 to allow for adequate concrete cure time.
