[ARCHIVED] Fatal Accident

A Midland woman has been reported deceased as a result of injuries she sustained in a major accident on Jan. 16.

Midland police were advised over the weekend that 88-year-old Evelyn Bush died at Midland Memorial Hospital. She had been transported to the hospital after Midland Police and Fire Departments responded to a major accident at approximately 3:55 p.m. on Jan. 16 at the intersection of Midland Drive and Andrews Highway.

An investigation found that Bush had been traveling westbound on Andrews Highway in the right turn only lane in a 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer but did not turn onto Midland Drive as the law required. She drove through the intersection as the driver of a 2014 Toyota Tundra that had been traveling eastbound on Andrews Highway was attempting to make a left turn to head north onto Midland Drive, resulting in a collision. Bush was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Bush’s failure to turn out of a turn only lane was determined to be the cause of the crash, and no charges were filed as a result of the accident.
