What is the process to become a police officer at the Midland Police Department?
The first step of the process is showing up to an applicant testing date. Once you have passed the physical and written tests, you will be given a background packet to complete and turn in by a specified date. Background investigators will contact you when they have started on your background investigation. A background investigation typically takes 1 week to 2 months. Once you have passed the background investigation, you will be set up for an interview. The next step after passing the interview is completing a polygraph examination, psychological examination, and an interview with the Chief. The last step of the process is completing paperwork as well as physical/medical exams as determined by the City of Midland Human Resources Department Manager. Once hired, future police officers that will be going to the academy will be referred to as Police Recruits.
