Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program

The City of Midland is annually awarded CDBG funds from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The objective of the CDBG program is to develop viable urban communities, by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate income.

Generally, the following types of projects can be CDBG supported:

  • Acquiring property
  • Improving or developing public facilities and infrastructure
  • Housing rehabilitation and preservation
  • Home buyer assistance
  • Code enforcement
  • Clearance
  • Economic development
  • Neighborhood revitalization
  • Public services

Usage of the CDBG funds is guided by the City's Consolidated Plan that establishes Midland's long-range strategy for investment of its HUD resources and other resources linked to activities directed at the community development, housing and homeless services needed.
