Crime Analysis Unit
The Crime Analysis Unit was formed in February 2005. Clif Sikes, Crime Analysis Supervisor and LaNita Joiner, Crime Analysis Technician staff the Unit.  The Unit’s mission is to collect, collate, analyze and disseminate crime information. The staff works continuously to identify crime trends, crime patterns, crime series and crime sprees. They use inferential statistics to forecast future crimes, and they also utilize the City of Midland’s Geographical Information System (GIS) to map crimes and perform spatial analysis. The Unit works closely with the Field Operations Bureau and the Investigative Services Bureau to adjust patrol strategies, develop leads, identify suspects, apprehend offenders and obtain convictions.  The Crime Analysis Unit is a key part of the Midland Police Department’s COMPSTAT process. Supporting COMPSTAT is the Unit’s first priority.
