INVESTIGATIVE SERVICES BUREAU
The Investigative Services Bureau is responsible for follow-up investigation on criminal offenses and related activities. The bureau is commanded by Deputy Chief Jerry Compton and is divided into two divisions, which are commanded by Lieutenants.
Deputy Chief Compton has been with the Midland Police Department for over 35 years in the ranks of Patrol Officer, Detective Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Deputy Chief. He was promoted to Lieutenant in October 1984 and served in every bureau in the department. In December 1997 he was promoted to Deputy Chief and has served in the Support Services Bureau, the Field Operations Bureau, and now the Investigative Services Bureau. He is a graduate of the 119th session of the FBI National Academy in 1979 and a 1998 graduate of the Law
Enforcement Management Institute. Additionally, he is a member of various professional organizations to include the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the Texas Police Chiefs Association.
