INVESTIGATIVE SERVICES BUREAU
CRIME ANALYSIS UNIT
The Crime Analysis Unit attends numerous meetings. The information acquired from these meetings is processed and disseminated throughout the MPD and other law enforcement and legal agencies in bulletins. In addition, the Unit compiles and processes data from field interrogation cards. The Unit assists persons calling from out of state, persons calling from Midland and local and out of state businesses requesting crime study information for local apartment complexes, condominiums, duplexes and specific residential locations. Questions asked also involve gang activity, locations of schools, parks, hospitals and shopping areas.
The unit reviews and compares all MPD FI cards against the Midland Judicial District Community Supervision and Corrections Department (CSCD) active adult probationer list, juvenile probationer list and with local state and federal parole officers to locate any possible violations. This unit continues to keep track of registered sex offenders living in Midland County through a computerized database, coordinating this information with DPS Intelligence, Federal and State Parole, CSCD, and the MPD and MCSO records sections. The Crime Analysis Unit continues to maintain a liaison with more than 65 separate law enforcement and legal entities in West Texas and the surrounding areas.
The Crime Analysis Unit receives Crime Stoppers tips involving murder investigations, kidnapping, missing persons, robbery, auto theft, all burglaries, forgery, narcotic related cases and beer thefts from convenience stores.
