The Department of Public Communication is the day-to-day interface with the news media and public on issues related to governing and managing the City. The Public Information Officer (P.I.O.), Sara Higgins, is responsible for ensuring that information released by the City to the media and citizens is accurate and appropriately distributed.
A goal of the P.I.O is to maintain positive media relations through communications, coordinating interviews, and distribution of press releases. The P.I.O is also responsible for responding to open records requests and marketing the different aspects of the City. The P.I.O serves as a center point and main contact for the public and media.
