History and Long Term Plans
(2005 - 2015)

HISTORY
The Water and Wastewater Operations Division maintains over 1000 miles of water distribution and sewer collection lines.  Some of this infrastructure dates from the 1920's.

PRESENT
The Division is a highly-trained service division.  The Safety program has been greatly upgraded with new equipment and an emphasis on training.  The Management philosophy is planning, communicating, delegating, and achieving.  The members of the Division are now being included in the direction, greatly enhancing the image of the division. There are several different programs in place at this time:

1. Fire Hydrant program and replacement of old hydrants
2. Safety - Trenching and Confined Space and First Aid
3. Long Range Planning
4. Certifying personnel with TCEQ
5. Rehabilitation of water and sewer lines
6. Televising wastewater lines
7. Manhole rehabilitation and construction
8. Replacement of large (14" and larger) valves
9. GPS locating and mapping of existing and new infrastructure
10. Operation and maintenance of wastewater and storm water lift stations

This Division installs water and sewer taps for new services and repairs/replaces existing service taps.  For service during normal working hours, 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., please call (432) 685-7270.  For emergency service after hours and on weekends and holidays, please call (432) 685-7340.

FUTURE
The Water Wastewater Operations Division can do anything asked of it.  They struggle with maintaining staff levels due to the "booming" economy.
