Sharla Earl Hotchkiss has served as the Council Member for District 3 since January 2014. Councilwoman Hotchkiss is a “community achiever” whose volunteer service has been nationally recognized. Sharla has served as a volunteer in many community areas including past-chair of Midland’s Planning and Zoning Commission, George W. Bush Childhood Home Board, and the Vision 2020 Executive Committee. She is the former co-chair of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s Pollution Prevention Oversight Committee. Former Gov. Rick Perry appointed her to the Texas Workforce Investment Council in 2005 where she presently serves as Vice Chairman. She served as Executive Director for Keep Midland Beautiful, is active presently on that board, and is a current board member and past President for Keep Texas Beautiful. Some of her many awards include the Keep America Beautiful Lady Bird Johnson Award for outstanding female volunteer in the nation, Keep Texas Beautiful President’s Award, Texas League of Women Voters Excellence in Environmental Awareness award, and Southwestern University Citation of Merit Award.
Sharla has also led local and statewide strategic planning sessions and board trainings to improve the nonprofit community. She received her bachelor’s degree from Southwestern University.
