Jerry Morales Jerry Morales was first sworn in as an at-large council member on August 5, 2008, filling an unexpired term. He then became mayor on January 13, 2014. Mr. Morales is a native Midlander who owns and operates Gerardo’s Casita and Gerardo's Bistro Restaurants.

Mr. Morales graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and attended Texas Tech University. He and his wife Meredith have three children, and the Morales family attends St. Ann’s Church.

Mr. Morales finds it very important to give back to the community and has done so by serving on many local and state boards.

He currently serves as V.P. of Hospice of Midland, St. Ann’s School Board, and is the president-elect of the Texas Restaurant Association. He serves on the Board of Governors for the Permian Basin Area Foundation and the advisory board for Prosperity Bank.

Mr. Morales has also served on the Midland Development Corporation, as President of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, President of the Permian Basin Restaurant Association, the Midland Chamber of Commerce, and various advisory boards and commissions.
